Wetenschappelijk Namen?
Als u zoekt naar de wetenschappelijke naam van de Dwergkogelvis, dan komt u zeker deze tegen: Tetraodon travancoricus, Monotreta travancoricus en Carinotetraodon imitator. En waarschijnlijk nog een tiental anderen.............

Ik veronderstel dat er slechts twee soorten (of varianten) zijn:

Carinotetraodon travancoricus en Carinotetraodon imitator.

Volgende informatie werd gevonden op Pufferfish Yahoo Group in twee posten:
Dr.Klaus Ebert schrijft in Aqualog, The Puffers of Fresh and Brackish Waters alle drie de dwergkogels onder Carinotetraodon travancoricus (voor de meestal geziene dwergkogelvis, blauw groen) en Carinotetraodon imitator.

"Ik heb nog nooit gehoord van de anderen en ik wil vasthouden aan Carinotetraodon als een constante voor de dwergkogel."

RTR schrijft -- "Naar mijn inzicht moeten de dwergkogels (beide soorten of beide varianten, welke zij blijken te zijn) worden genoemd Carinotetraodon, zo hebben ze de keel die bepalende kenmerken zijn voor Carinotetraodon versus Tetraodon.

Taxonomistsen overwegen dat Monotreta een synoniem is voor Tetraodon.
Hierboven staan foto's van de mannen en vrouwen van elke 'soort'.

Men is niet helemaal zeker of het daadwerkelijk twee verschillende soorten zijn.

Fotootjes van een jonge Dwergkogelvis (Carinotetraodon travancoricus) het is dus duidelijk een mannetje (zie de zijstreep op zijn flank). En nog een macho ook zoals je kunt zien .Maar hij heeft ze niet opgegeten hoor die slak !!!

De visjes (2) zijn nu 6mm ! Zijn geboren op 21-03-2009 dus na een maand verdubbelt in groei.

Ook nog foto's van de nakweek van Chlamydogobius eremius.

Zoals beloofd hier de eerste foto's van de nakweek. Om een idee te geven van de grootte van het visje: op de derde foto zie je een wit bolletje, dit is een onuitgekomen Artemia.

Dwergkogelvissen - Carinotetraodon travancorius en Pangio kuhlii/ pangia

vrouwtje en mannetje (hij maakt het vrouwtje nu een hele dag het hof). Achterna zwemmen en in de flank aantikken. Altijd bij hetzelfde vrouwtje.

Pangio kuhlii (medebewoners) komen ook eens piepen tijdens het fotograferen van de Dwergkogels.

Verschil in kleur, het onderste (geler) vrouwtje wordt nu redelijk fanatiek achternagezwommen door het mannetje.

Carinotetraodon travancoricus

Heb een foto genomen van de buikzijde van een van de vrouwtjes, hier zien we de cloaca van het vrouwtje. De cloaca (Latijn: "riool" ) is de opening in het lichaam van de vissen waardoor zowel ontlasting, urine en genitale afscheidingen (zoals de eieren) worden afgegeven.
